Egypt has pledged unwavering support to the three Alliance of Sahel States (AES) countries in their collective battle against terrorism, reaffirming its readiness for full-scale cooperation.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty made this commitment during his official visit to Ouagadougou, where he held discussions with Burkinabe President Ibrahim Traoré.

According to a statement released by the Burkinabe presidency, the Egyptian minister declared that Cairo will continue to “provide any type of assistance” to the AES in the framework of the anti-terrorism struggle. He emphasized that Egypt is ready for “all kinds of cooperation” with Burkina Faso and the AES as a whole.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty also conveyed a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Burkinabe head of state. The message focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Burkina Faso.

The Alliance of Sahel States — which includes Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger — has been seeking broader regional and international support in the face of rising militant threats across the region.

This latest declaration by Egypt signals a potential shift toward deeper African-led security collaboration in the Sahel.
