Immediate former Deputy Head of Public Service Eliud Owalo has sharply criticized the government over rampant corruption that is eroding the economic fabric of the country.
Owalo, who is eyeing the presidential seat in the 2027 general elections, stated that his administration would deal decisively with the vice to strengthen key institutions like education and health. Speaking in Ehainga village, Budalangi constituency in Busia County, during the burial of Mary Matano—the wife of KCB FC coach Robert Matano—the presidential hopeful highlighted that Kenya is losing more than KSh 2 billion every day due to corruption.
He emphasized that the current administration has a responsibility to alleviate the high cost of living that’s causing sleepless nights for Kenyans, dismissing the “Singapore narrative” as mere hullabaloo that fails to address corruption head-on.
