President William Ruto addressed calls for his resignation, questioning the motivations behind the ‘Ruto Must Go’ chants during protests and on social media.

Ruto acknowledged that all leaders eventually leave office and asked for reasons behind the demands for his early departure.

The protests against Ruto’s administration have been driven by issues such as the high cost of living, taxation, unemployment, government corruption, and contested policy reforms.

Demonstrators accuse Ruto of failing to deliver on his campaign promises to reduce the cost of living and support ordinary Kenyans, threatening to vote him out in 2027.

Ruto dismissed the slogans as empty noise and challenged critics to present concrete alternative plans for key areas like the economy, education, healthcare, and job creation.

He defended controversial reforms, including the affordable housing project, changes to the health insurance system, and the overhaul of the university funding model, arguing they challenge the status quo and invite scrutiny.

The critics may say I’m wrong, the cynics may say I am lying, and the naysayers may even say lam mad, but what if they are wrong? And they are. What if I am an agent of destiny for the transformation of our nation who has been delayed for far too long? Give me a chance and judge me fairly when the time comes’ President William Ruto said.
