Iran is prepared to engage in indirect negotiations with the United States, but only if Washington offers assurances that it will not carry out a military strike during the talks, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday.

Araghchi stressed that Tehran’s position on avoiding direct negotiations with the U.S. has not changed.

However, he noted that Iran is willing to pursue indirect channels if guarantees are in place to prevent a repeat of what he described as past violations.

The U.S. must commit not to launch any military operation in the midst of negotiations, as has happened before,” Araghchi stated.

The comments come amid heightened regional tensions and renewed international efforts to bring both countries back to the negotiating table over nuclear and security issues.
