Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has said that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over remarks he allegedly made to American officials.
According to Murkomen, Gachagua is expected to be picked up by DCI officers upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The questioning will center on claims that President William Ruto has been holding secret meetings with terrorist groups.
Murkomen condemned the allegations, calling them dangerous and damaging to Kenya’s image internationally.
Gachagua said, while in USA that President William Ruto while in his tour in Mandera weeks ago he met with three Alshaab officials at night.
He said the government treats matters of national security with utmost seriousness and will not hesitate to investigate anyone spreading what he termed as false and inflammatory statements.
The former Deputy President has not yet responded publicly to Murkomen’s remarks.
Gachagua is in USA for a month and is expected in return in next week or so.
