The manhunt for Police Constable Benard Siambe, an officer attached to Kanyonyoo Police Station, is still ongoing. Siambe is accused of fatally shooting two women at Kanyonyoo Market two days ago.
According to Kitui County Police Commander Martha Ngetich, the officer allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend and her friend following a domestic dispute. The suspect has since gone into hiding, and efforts to locate and apprehend him are underway.
Commander Ngetich has issued a stern warning to all officers against the illegal use of firearms. She also urged those facing personal or emotional challenges to seek help and speak up before situations escalate.
“The law does not protect those who misuse the power entrusted to them. Officers must handle their responsibilities with discipline and accountability,” she stated.
She further confirmed that the bodies of the two victims are currently preserved at the Kitui Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations.
Police are appealing to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of PC Siambe.
