In a statement issued on December 11, KRA said the appointments were approved by the KRA Board and are aimed at strengthening analytics capabilities, advancing digital transformation, and driving organization-wide reforms.
“The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is pleased to announce two strategic executive appointments approved by the KRA Board, as the institution accelerates its organizational transformation, technology modernization, and evidence-driven tax policy agenda,” the statement read.
KRA congratulated the newly appointed executives and called on stakeholders to continue supporting the authority’s mandate.
Brian Omooria Appointed Commissioner for Business Strategy
Among the appointments, Brian Omooria Nyakeri has been named Commissioner for Business Strategy, Technology, and Enterprise Modernization.
Nyakeri brings more than 20 years of private sector experience, with a strong background in digital transformation, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, and large-scale systems modernization.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Lead Consultant and Chief Technology Officer at Agile Cloud Limited. He has also held senior leadership positions at IBM East Africa, Dell Technologies Inc., Safaricom PLC, and FHI 360 Inc., where he led major technology initiatives spanning infrastructure, operations, enterprise systems, and innovation.
Nyakeri holds an Executive MBA from the South African Development Centre in collaboration with the IBM Institute for Business Value, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science Systems Engineering from Africa Nazarene University.
He also holds multiple international certifications in cloud architecture, data strategy, systems engineering, network administration, and enterprise design, and is a member of the Computer Society of Kenya and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
