Italy has sharply condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, with a senior government official declaring that the Israeli leadership has “lost humanity” in its conduct of the war.

The statement comes as civilian casualties in Gaza continue to rise, with international organizations warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis. Italian officials accused Israel of ignoring calls for restraint and of carrying out operations that disproportionately impact civilians, particularly children and the elderly.

“It is no longer possible to justify such actions under the guise of self-defense,” the official said, urging Israel to immediately halt strikes and open humanitarian corridors.

Italy’s remarks add to growing international criticism, with several European leaders warning that Israel’s military approach risks isolating it on the global stage.

The Israeli government has not yet formally responded to Italy’s comments but has repeatedly defended its operations as necessary to dismantle Hamas’ military capabilities.

Meanwhile, humanitarian agencies continue to push for a ceasefire, warning that the situation in Gaza is reaching a point of no return.
