Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent a direct message to the people of Iran, pledging that Israel will assist in solving the country’s severe water shortages if its current leadership is removed.
“Once you are free from this regime, we will bring Israeli technology to help solve your water crisis,” Netanyahu said in a statement addressed to Iranians.
Iran has been grappling with worsening droughts, declining water resources, and mismanagement of infrastructure, which have fueled unrest and protests in recent years.
Israel, renowned for its advanced water desalination, recycling, and irrigation systems, has previously offered similar cooperation to countries facing water challenges often as part of wider diplomatic overtures.
Relations between Israel and Iran have been hostile since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, with the two governments exchanging accusations and threats. Netanyahu’s latest remarks appear to be aimed directly at Iran’s citizens, bypassing its leadership.
While Tehran is unlikely to welcome the offer under current political conditions, some analysts note that such messages are part of Israel’s broader strategy to engage with Iranian society and highlight technological capabilities as a potential bridge for future relations.
