Enock Andanje, a former principal of Bungoma High School and a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant for the Malava Constituency parliamentary seat, tragically passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Andanje collapsed while attending a widows’ empowerment forum in West Kabras, Malava, which was also graced by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Emergency response teams were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Having taken early retirement from his education career to pursue politics, Andanje was vying to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant by the passing of MP Malulu Injendi earlier this year.

His sudden demise has left the local community and UDA supporters in shock.

Authorities have announced plans for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the Malava by-election, initially scheduled for November 27, 2025, is now uncertain as the political party considers its next steps.

Local leaders and residents have paid tribute to Andanje, remembering him for his dedication to education and community development. Many expressed grief over the loss of a figure who had inspired both students and constituents alike.

Enock Andanje’s death is a significant blow to the Malava community and to the political landscape ahead of the upcoming by-election.
