Kenya President William Ruto has again shocked citizens on his spending just in ended June Financial Year 2025
State House exceeded its allocated budget by a staggering 170%, spending Sh11.6 billion against an approved budget of Sh4.3 billion, according to newly released government expenditure data.
This overspending raises eyebrows especially as it comes months after the Executive promised to implement stringent austerity measures to reduce recurrent expenditure and redirect resources to priority areas like healthcare and education.
Observers have called on the Office of the Auditor-General to initiate a thorough probe into the over-expenditure, citing growing public concern over transparency and fiscal discipline within the presidency.
“This level of overspending is alarming and signals a breakdown in financial controls,” said a Nairobi-based policy analyst. “Kenyans deserve to know how and why the State House exceeded its budget by such a massive margin.”
Despite the financial breach, State House is yet to issue an official statement explaining the circumstances behind the Sh7.3 billion overrun
